Artistic Residency, Azerbaijan

Effective May 2024, Junoon has partnered with DanceAbility Azerbaijan (DAA), in an effort to make movement spaces more inclusive and equitable.

Our Artistic Residency with DAA involves working with the differently abled – physically, mentally, intellectually, the aged and the wounded – at any and every age – by bringing Classical Movement, Conditioning, Strengthening and Flows into the mix of the DanceAbility Method that is being carried to both rural and urban regions of Azerbaijan.

We enter into a cultural exchange as we explore Indian Classical Dance, Ballet technique and Azerbaijani National Dance in the course of our workshops, training sessions and showcases.

With the world renowned DanceAbility method, we are aiming to foster inclusive communities and overall wellbeing.

Our collaboration with DAA

Junoon’s collaboration with DanceAbility®️, Azerbaijan (DAA) through multiple in-person training sessions across projects in Azerbaijan, and the inevitable cultural exchange of art forms, styles and disciplines, aims to:

1. Bring DanceAbility®️ method to Junoon offshoots in India – rural, semi-urban and urban.
2. Incorporate classical dance technique and drills into existing DanceAbility®️ Method and carry it to the differently abled and disadvantaged after adequate experimentation, research and practice with current facilitators of DanceAbility®️ method in Azerbaijan.
3. Make the nuances of the DanceAbility®️ method a significant aspect and module of The Junoon Method that can then ensure the beauty, intricacy and enormity of classical dance is extended to all demographics and people of all privileges and conditions.
4. Ensure a cultural exchange of Indian Classical Dance forms, Indian Folk Dances, the Azerbaijani National Dance and Ballet technique, through our time together, so as to imbibe the collective spirit of these regional, national and international art forms and familiarize more and more people of all abilities and inclinations with these.
